Child killer sentenced to die

A Florida judge formally sentenced mechanic Joseph P. Smith to die for the 2004 murder of Carlie Brucia, the 11-year-old girl whose abduction was captured by a security camera and shown around the world. "Pursuant to the laws of Florida, (you) have forfeited your right to live," Judge Andrew Owens told Smith.
